Creating a Contemporary Lyceum
To highlight the aims and purposes of the Lyceum Fellowship in its inaugural year, our first competition problem asks applicants to explore through design the very nature and function of a contemporary Lyceum.
A group of leading academics and artists have joined together to form a new Association for the sharing and exchange of ideas, theories, and creations. They have already begun to meet during the vacation summer months on Martha's Vineyard. As the Association grows, the group wishes to invite more of their colleagues to share in the interaction, and has purchased property on the island in order to build a Lyceum facility that will permit members to meet year-round. ..
